Sheppard scores second-place finish in Wild West Shootout at Vado
Brandon Sheppard made his 2024 debut behind the wheel of the Longhorn Factory Team No. B5 Late Model on Friday evening for the fourth round of the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.).
With a runner-up showing in his heat race positioning him on the third row for the feature, Sheppard lost ground after a late restart to finish seventh. He ran as high as third in the early going of the 30-lapper.
On Saturday, Brandon timed in second-fastest in his time trial group before placing first in his heat. Starting the feature in second via the redraw, Sheppard led the opening circuit before surrendering the top spot to Bobby Pierce. He went onto place second in the 40-lap affair with Stormy Scott rounding out the podium.
The Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout drew to a close for Sheppard on Sunday with the Illinois native qualifying for the $25,000-to-win finale with a runner-up run in his heat. He faded three positions following a lap-44 restart to finish ninth.
