BShep notches third-place finish in LOLMDS FALS Spring Shootout
With Mother Nature halting both midweek Castrol FloRacing Night in America events on Wednesday and Thursday, Brandon Sheppard brought the Longhorn Factory Team No. B5 Late Model to Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) on Friday for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned Farmer City 74.
Relying on a provisional into the opener after going eighth-to-fourth in his B-Main, Sheppard slowed on lap 26 with smoke coming out from underneath the hood, ending his night early.
For Saturday’s FALS Spring Shootout at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Brandon raced into the $30,000-to-win weekend finale with a thrilling heat race victory. He tracked down Shannon Babb on the final lap and made a pass on the cushion coming out of turn four. Starting the 60-lap main event in fourth, Sheppard climbed one spot on the one-lane surface to finish third, chasing Devin Moran and Ricky Thornton Jr. across the line.
